Adreian Payne was an American professional basketball player who last played for Juventus Utena of the Lithuanian Basketball League. He played college basketball for Michigan State University.

Payne received national prominence during his final season at Michigan State University, not just for his basketball prowess, but also for the friendship he developed with a young cancer sufferer.

During Payne’s Senior Night tribute, Lacey, who was wearing a blonde wig, was carried around the court by Payne as he was praised.

After Michigan State’s victory in the Big Ten tournament, he repeated the feat in Indianapolis. According to the AP, she died in April 2014.

The Atlanta Hawks drafted Payne with the 15th overall choice in the 2014 NBA draft after his senior season at Michigan State, when he averaged 16 points and seven rebounds per game.
