The former basketball player was shot and killed this early Monday morning in Orlando Florida at around 1:37 am, the orange county sheriff’s office got a call about a man who has been shot. Payne was transported to a nearby hospital where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.

The chief suspect, 29-year-old Lawrence Dority was seen and arrested at the scene and is being charged with first-degree murder.
