Albert Aroldis Chapman de la Cruz (born February 28, 1988) is a Cuban-American pitcher for the New York Yankees. Before joining the Reds, he played for Holguin in the Cuban National Series. a Referred to, as the “Cuban Missile” or “Cuban Flame Thrower”, Chapman is left-handed.



Chapman pitched for Holguin both domestically and abroad. He left Cuba in 2009 and joined the Reds in 2010. That year, Chapman debuted in MLB. He was chosen to four consecutive National League All-Star teams from 2012 to 2015. After the 2015 season, the Yankees traded Chapman to the Cubs. Chapman won the 2016 World Series with the Cubs. After 2016, he joined the Yankees.

Chapman’s run began on August 21, 2013, and ended on August 13, 2014, after 49 games. Chapman now holds the MLB and Guinness World Records for the fastest baseball pitch, both at 105.1 mph (169.1 km/h).
