Austin Richard Davis is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in the United States. He formerly played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates in Major League Baseball.
He was drafted in the 12th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies and made his major league debut in 2018.
Davis was born in Scottsdale, Arizona, to Rick and Jeri Davis, and grew up in the city where he was raised.
He went to Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, where he played baseball and was named to the first team of both the Region and the City of Scottsdale.
Davis attended California State University, Bakersfield, where he was a member of the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners baseball team and majored in business while playing college baseball.
Davis pitched with the Roadrunners for two seasons, compiling a 5–10 record with a 4.56 earned run average and 95 strikeouts in 28 outings (28 starts).
Davis was taken by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 12th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft.
The Rookie Gulf Coast League Phillies signed Davis, and he made his professional debut in 2014, going 1–1 with a 2.59 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 31+13 innings thrown.
