Fran Tarkenton has been the best starting quarterback in the history of the Minnesota Vikings

His tenure with the Vikings spanned 13 non-consecutive seasons, playing with the team for six straight seasons from 1961 to 1976, then for seven seasons from 1972 to 1979. In between his years in Minnesota, Tarkenton was a member of the New York Giants for five seasons

What made Fran Tarkenton the best quarterback? Tarkenton won the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1975 and was also the NFL offensive player of the year, First-team All-Pro all in the same year

He was 9x Pro Bowl(1964,1965,1967-1970,1974-1976). He was the NFL passing yards leader in 1978. The NFL passing touchdowns leader in 1975 and won the Bert Bell Award in 1975

Tarkenton Software later merged with Knowledge Ware(with Tarkenton as president), until selling the company to Sterling Software in 1994.
