Big Brother Naija, formerly known as Big Brother Nigeria, is a Nigerian reality competition television series based on the Big Brother television franchise.

Contestants compete for a sizable cash prize and other material prizes at the end of the show by avoiding being evicted from the house by viewers who vote for their favorite housemates to remain in the show.

From 5 March to 4 June 2006, the program’s first season was broadcast on M-Net and DStv Channel 37. Alexander-Forbes’ auditing firm independently confirmed the election results.

From 5 March to 4 June 2006, DStv Channel 37 originally broadcast the inaugural season of the program. The remaining housemates were ecstatic on Day 23 when two new participants were revealed, adding a twist to the game.

The seventh housemate to be sent out was Ebuka, who had been the most popular housemate for a few weeks and was generally expected to win the competition. A lot of people attribute his eviction to the Joe’s Fan Club (JFC). The show quickly booted Joe out of it.

On Day 79, Big Brother added another twist to the game by canceling the day’s scheduled nominations and giving the housemates the impression that their eviction would be based on how well they performed on their tasks.

However, in reality, there were no more evictions, and viewers started voting for the winner, who was 26-year-old Katung Aduwak.
