William Felton Russell (February 12, 1934 – July 31, 2022) was an American professional basketball player who played as a center for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1956 to 1969.
The well-known basketball legend passed away at the age of 88 years leaving behind three children by the names of Jacob Russell, William Russell Jr. and Karen Russell.
Bill is the son of his parents called Charles Russell and Katie Russell. The legend is known to have one sibling also called Charlie L. Russell.
The former basketball;l player and coach began his high school education at the McClymonds high school in Oakland, California and furthered his education in college at the University of San Francisco.
Bill was drafted in the NBA in 1956 in round 1 as the 2nd overall pick by the St. Louis Hawks.
