Derrick Gore was born on December 13, 1994, in Kansas City, Missouri, and is an American football running back who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He was a collegiate football player for Louisiana–Monroe, and Alabama, among other schools.
Initially, Gore attended Coffeyville Community College, where he began his collegiate career. He suffered an injury during training camp and was unable to compete in his first season. Following the season, Gore accepted an invitation to join the Alabama football team as a walk-on after getting an offer from the school. A redshirt freshman, he spent the majority of his time on special teams as the Crimson tide captured the 2015 National Championship.
Going into his sophomore season, Gore rushed for 93 yards and scored a touchdown. The season after he finished at Alabama, Gore stated his intention to transfer, and he ultimately committed himself to transfer to Louisiana–Monroe for his last two seasons of NCAA eligibility. He was the leading rusher for the Warhawks in both seasons, rushing for 585 and 662 yards and scoring a total of 13 touchdowns.
