Chad Henne

Chad Steven Henne is a quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. He received his education at the University of Michigan. Over the course of his career at Michigan, Henne became only the second true freshman starter in the school’s history.

He accumulated 32 victories in regular season play, 8,740 offensive yards, and 87 touchdowns, and in his senior season led the Wolverines to a victory over Florida in the Capital One Bowl. After throwing for more than 350 yards, he was subsequently voted the game’s most valuable player.

The Miami Dolphins selected Henne in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, launching him into his professional career. For the majority of his rookie season, Henne served as the backup quarterback to Chad Pennington, who was a veteran of the league. Due to an injury to Pennington, Henne was forced to start the majority of the Dolphins’ 2009 season. It was Henne’s first start of the season with the team.

Henne was a freshman quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines, and he started the season as the third-string quarterback behind redshirt sophomore Matt Gutierrez and redshirt freshman quarterback Clayton Richard in the 2004 season.

Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr announced Gutierrez would start the season opener against the Miami RedHawks on the Monday before the game though he was suffering from a sore shoulder at the time of the announcement. Carr made the decision to enable Henne to take over as Gutierrez’s replacement a few days later.
