Naylor was a student at Mississauga, Ontario’s St. Joan of Arc Catholic Secondary School. The 15-year-old joined the Canadian junior national baseball team and went on to win silver at the Under-18 Baseball World Cup in South Korea in 2012. He has since graduated from the Canadian senior national squad.

As an Under-18 Baseball World Cup bronze medalist, he again competed in the 2015 tournament. Naylor became the first Canadian to participate in the MLB Junior Select Home Run Derby in 2014 when he was selected as one of 10 high school invitees to the event at Target Field during MLB All-Star Week.

Despite his efforts, he came in second. Late in the same year, he appeared in the Petco Park All-American Classic and Wrigley Field’s Under Armour All-American Baseball Game
