Sean Robert Doolittle (born September 26, 1986) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Washington Nationals. He’s played for the Oakland Athletics, Cincinnati Reds, and Seattle Mariners in the past.

Doolittle was drafted in the first round of the 2007 MLB draft by the Athletics as a first baseman and outfielder. In 2012, he made his MLB debut as a pitcher. In 2014 and 2018, he was an All-Star.

Doolittle grew raised in New Jersey’s Tabernacle Township. He lived near the baseball field and frequented there for practice. As a pitcher, he participated in Babe Ruth Baseball.

Doolittle was a standout pitcher at Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey. Shawnee won the state championship under Doolittle’s guidance. Doolittle was a starter and first baseman at the University of Virginia.

He formerly held the record for most victories in a career by a Virginia pitcher (22), but Danny Hultzen has since eclipsed him. He played collegiate summer baseball with the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Harwich Mariners in 2005. Doolittle was chosen to the United States National (Collegiate) Baseball Team in 2005 and 2006.
