Eric Alexander Mercury simply referred to as Eric Mercury was a Canadian singer, songwriter, and musician who was born and raised on June 28, 1994, in Toronto, Canada and died March 14, 2022.

Eric began his musical career when he recorded his first debut solo album titled Electric Black Man, in 1969. He made other songs like Funky Sounds Nurtured in the Fertile Soil of Memphis That Smell of Rock (1972), Love Is Taking Over (1973), Eric Mercury (1975), and Gimme A Call Sometime (1981).

Eric was also known to write songs for other artists such as Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway for whom he also produced for. He was also seen in the stage production of Jesus Christ Superstar as well as in the film The Fish That Saved Pittsburgh. He played the role of Rudy in that film.



In 1971, Eric moved from Toronto to Los Angeles and in 1978, he moved again to settle in New York but later on moved back to his hometown in Toronto where he worked in a management and production role for the band, Age of Reason. When the band failed, he left for Chicago but returned to settle in Toronto in 1997.

Eric kept his marital status a secret from the public. Although we know he had two children but the identity of his baby mama was not known. So it’s unclear whether he was married to her or not. Simply put, Eric’s wife is unknown.
