Erik ten Hag is the head coach of Eredivisie club Ajax. He is a former player and manager in the Dutch professional football league. From the start of the 2022–23 season, he will be the manager of Manchester United in England.
For FC Twente, De Graafschap, RKC Waalwijk, and FC Utrecht, Ten Hag was mostly a centre-back. He spent three seasons with FC Twente, where he won the KNVB Cup in 2000–01.
In the 1990–91 season, Ten Hag won the Eerste Divisie with De Graafschap, ten years before winning the cup with FC Twente. After the end of the 2001–02 Eredivisie season, he retired from active playing at the age of 32 while playing for FC Twente.

Marc Overmars, the club’s shareholder, hired Ten Hag as manager of Go Ahead Eagles in the Eerste Divisie in 2012. He led the Go Ahead Eagles to their first promotion in 17 years during his lone season there.
He was the coach of Bayern Munich II from 6 June 2013 until 2015, when Heiko Vogel took over.
On May 22, 2015, his final match as head coach of Bayern Munich II was a 1–0 loss against Nürnberg II.
He was named head coach of AFC Ajax on December 21, 2017, after Marcel Keizer was fired by the club.
In the 2018–19 UEFA Champions League, he led his Ajax team to the semi-finals for the first time since 1997, overcoming Real Madrid 4–1 in the round of 16 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, and also beating Juventus away 1–2 after drawing the first leg 1–1 at home in the quarterfinals.
Ten Hag was named manager of Manchester United on April 21, 2022, for a period ending in June 2025, with the option of a one-year extension.
