Estevan Florial Current Team
Estevan Florial is with the New York Yankees. He has been with the Yankees since 2020.
Florial was wrongly classified as having been born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, during his first couple of years with the Yankees club. If this had been the case, he would have been a precursor to being the first Haitian-born Major League player.
Florial signed with the New York Yankees in 2014 under the alias Haniel d’Oleo. When he was unable to submit a birth document, his contract with the Yankees was annulled, and in 2015, he re-signed with them under the name Estevan Florial.
On August 28, 2020, Florial was promoted to the major leagues. He made his Major League Baseball debut the next day, in the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Mets, in which he recorded his first hit.
At the conclusion of the day, he was returned to the custody of the minors.
On July 20, 2021, Florial was recalled to the Yankees, this time to fill in for the injured Trey Amburgey.
He drove in his first major league run on a groundout to first base, and he subsequently hit his first major league home run, a solo shot against Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Enyel De Los Santos.
