Gabriel Moreno, a Venezuela native, signed with the Blue Jays as an international free agent on August 3rd, 2016. The club didn’t have to think long and hard about this.

When it comes to catching, this child has the tools and the physique to succeed. As a shortstop, he considered switching to the outfield but decided against it in the end.

As a shortstop, he had a high level of intelligence about the game and a commanding presence.



Because of this, he has the ability to create trust and rapport with his pitchers while keeping an eye on every situation that may arise during games.

In 2017, Gabriel Moreno made his debut with the DSL Blue Jays. In 2018, he played for the GLC/Blue Field Blue Jays, then the Lansing Lugnuts in 2019.

In 585 at-bats over three seasons, he had 172 hits and drove in 105 runs with 16 home runs. Strikeouts outnumbered walks by 35 to 63. On-base percentage (.339): Gabriel Moreno hit.294 with a.339 batting average.
