Ha-Seong Kim (born October 17, 1995) is a Major League Baseball shortstop for the San Diego Padres. In the 2014 Korea Baseball Organization Draft, Kim was selected 29th overall by the Nexen Heroes.

In May 2014, he made his KBO debut with the Heroes, and in 2018 and 2019, he was awarded the Golden Glove Award. Kim will join the San Diego Padres in December of 2020.

Kim agreed to a four-year, $28 million contract with the San Diego Padres on December 31, 2020, with a mutual option for the 2025 season.



On April 1, 2021, Kim made his big-league debut. He struck out against Alex Young of the Arizona Diamondbacks while pinch-hitting for Emilio Pagán.

On April 10, 2021, at Arlington, Texas, Kim hit his first MLB home run in a 7-4 win over the Texas Rangers.

Kim smashed a two-run home ball in the bottom of the eighth inning on June 19, 2021, to lead the Padres to a 7-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds after the Padres lost their key player Fernando Tatis Jr. due to a probable injury.

After Tatis was placed on the injured list in late July 2021, Kim saw more playing time at shortstop for the Padres.

In his first game stepping in for Tatis at shortstop on August 1, 2021, Kim blasted a home run and drove in three runs, an MLB career-high.

Kim had a batting average of in 2021. In 117 games, he batted 202 times with eight home runs, 34 RBIs, and six steals.
