At 2010, while he was playing with the Dominican Summer Rangers at the Rookie-level of the Dominican Summer League, he earned the Dominican Summer League batting title.




After a rough start to the 2013 season with the Frisco RoughRiders of the Class AA Texas League, Alberto was moved to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League where he would finish the year.

After his return to Frisco in 2014, he was recognized as the finest defensive shortstop in all of minor league baseball by receiving the Rawlings Minor League Gold Glove Award.

On May 28, 2015, the Rangers gave Alberto a promotion to play in the major leagues; the next day, he made his debut playing for the Rangers against the Boston Red Sox. In his debut, he went one for three at the plate with a run batted-in (RBI) triple.

Alberto signed a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers on March 23, 2022, for a salary of $1.6 million. The contract was for one year. The agreement includes a two million dollar option for the year 2023.
