Leona said on The Jonathan Ross Show in December that she still communicates with her X Factor mentor Simon Cowell.
‘It was [an amicable separation] – we’re still friends, we maintain in contact, he checks in on me, I check in on him,’ she said of departing Simon’s record company, Syco, in 2014.
‘Throughout the program, he was really a great mentor, and he was quite active in assisting me with song choices and arrangements,’ she stated. He’s always been a strong supporter.’
Leona was instantly recruited to Syco after winning the X Factor, and she went on to sell more than 20 million records with the label.
