John Robert Hekker is a punter with the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League and was born on February 8, 1990. At Oregon State, he was a member of the football team. An undrafted free agent, he was signed in 2012 by the Rams.

He is a four-time First-Team All-Pro as well as a four-time Pro Bowler. With a 65-yard punt in Super Bowl LIII, he is the NFL’s all-time record holder for the longest Super Bowl punt.



Hekker graduated from Bothell High School in Bothell, Washington, in 2008. During his senior year, he was the starting quarterback and punter for the Cougars football team, guiding them to the State Championship game, which they lost. He also played basketball for his high school briefly during his final year.

In terms of career punting yards, Hekker ranked third in the school’s history with an average of 41.3 yards per punt. It’s no surprise that he was chosen to the Ray Guy Award Watch List in 2011 after winning the College Football Performance Award for Punter of the Week.

He was a Phil Steele All-Pac-10 Second Team and Ray Guy Award semifinalist in 2009. With 52 career punts of 50 yards or more, Hekker finished his career with 17 punts of at least 60 yards in six different games as a senior.
