Imee Marcos is a senatorial candidate from the Philippines since 2019 and was born on November 12, 1955, in Mandaluyong. Imee Marcos entered politics shortly after returning from exile with her family.
She successfully won three terms in the House of Representatives and three terms as governor of Ilocos Norte. She earned a Senate seat in the 2019 elections. She formerly held the positions of the governor of the province from 2010 to 2019 and congressman for Ilocos Norte’s 2nd district from 1998 to 2007.
As a beneficiary of various offshore holdings controlled by the Marcos family, as revealed in the Panama Papers and by evidence discovered during her mother Imelda Marcos’ trial, Marcos has been implicated in the family’s stolen money.
The Presidential Commission on Good Government is attempting to repatriate these assets, which the Philippine Supreme Court deemed to be “ill-gotten money.”
