Per sources, Deshaun Watson is joining the Browns.



On Friday night, the Houston Texans revealed their blockbuster deal with the Cleveland Browns.

In exchange for Watson and a 2024 fifth-round pick, the Browns agreed to send the Texans three first-round selections (one in each of the next three drafts), a 2023 third-round pick, and a 2024 fourth-round pick.

According to a source close to the matter, the Browns and Watson also agreed to a new five-year contract worth $230 million that is completely guaranteed.


According to ESPN Stats & Information, the agreement sets a record for the most guaranteed money on a single contract in NFL history.

 

Watson had notified the Browns on Thursday morning that he would not waive his no-trade clause for them and that he had restricted his options to the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers.



By Thursday night, the Falcons and Saints were said to be the finalists in the Watson competition, but the Browns never stopped wooing him, and they showed him the money in an unprecedented way.
