Jack Nicklaus is an American retired professional golfer and golf course designer. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest golfers of all time.

As a 26-year-old, Jack Nicklaus became the youngest player to win all four of golf’s major championships when he won the Masters Tournament and the Open Championship in 1966. In 1970, he won his second Open Championship.

Between 1971 and 1980, he won nine more major championships, surpassing Bobby Jones’s record of 13 major championships, and became the first player to complete the double and triple career grand slams. He won his 18th and final major championship at the age of 46, the tournament’s oldest winner.



Even though Jack Nicklaus played a relatively limited schedule, he won 10 tournaments and eight major championships in his first season on the Senior PGA Tour (now known as the PGA Tour Champions).

Before his retirement in 2005, he played in at least part of the four regular Tour majors, including The Open and The Masters. Nicklaus Design, one of the world’s largest golf course design and construction organizations, is now headed by Nicklaus himself. ”

The Memorial Tournament, which Nicklaus runs on the PGA Tour, is named for the annual award it bestows on persons who have had an impact on the sport of golf.
