As an undrafted free agent in 2014, the Houston Texans signed him. At Iowa, he participated in college football. Additionally, he has experience with the Denver Broncos.



On May 16, 2014, the Houston Texans acquired the services of Ferentz. After the Texans released him on August 30, 2014, he was added the following day to the practice squad. He committed to the Texans on December 30, 2014, by signing a reserve/futures contract.

Ferentz’s release by the Texans took place on September 5, 2015.



Denver Broncos retrieved Ferentz off waivers on September 6, 2015.

He participated in 13 games in the 2015 regular season. Ferentz took part in the Broncos’ Super Bowl 50-winning squad on February 7, 2016. By a score of 24-10, the Broncos triumphed over the Panthers. He made six appearances for the Broncos in the 2016 campaign.

The Denver Broncos cut loose Ferentz on May 10.

The New England Patriots acquired Ferentz on May 18, 2017. He was added to the practice squad the next day after being released on September 2, 2017. On February 6, 2018, the Patriots and he agreed to a reserve/future deal.

Ferentz was released by the Patriots on September 1 of this year, and the following day he was added to the practice squad. On November 3, 2018, the Patriots added Ferentz to the active roster. With the Patriots’ 13-3 victory over the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII, Ferentz captured his second championship.

When the roster was finalized on August 31, 2019, Ferentz was let go. With the release of Russell Bodine on September 6, 2019, he was re-signed.

The Patriots practice squad signed Ferentz on September 16, 2020. On September 26, 2020, he was elevated to the list of regulars. On October 16, the team placed him on the COVID-19 list for reserve personnel, and on October 28, he was activated.

Re-signing with the Patriots on May 17, 2021, was Ferentz. The next day, Ferentz was added to the practice squad after being waived on August 31. On October 27, he became a member of the active roster. The practice squad re-signed him after his release on November 8, 2021.

Ferentz renewed his agreement with the Patriots on March 14, 2022.
