Jannik Sinner plays tennis professionally. The Association of Tennis Professionals gave him a ranking of No. 9 in the world on November 1, 2021, and No. 124 in the world in doubles on September 27, 2021. In San Candido, Italy, Jannik was born on August 16, 2001. He participated in football, tennis, and skiing as a kid.



At the age of thirteen, he shifted his attention to tennis and relocated to the Italian Riviera to train with renowned instructor Riccardo Piatti. He started competing in professional matches at the age of 16, despite having little success as a junior, and by the time he was 17, he was one of the few athletes to have won multiple ATP Challenger Tour championships.

After breaking into the top 100, making his first ATP semifinal, and winning the Next Generation ATP Finals in Milan in 2019, he was named the ATP Newcomer of the Year. In 2020, he increased his position until he was among the top 50. He had a successful start to 2021. He entered the ATP top 10 for the first time in November 2021 among players who were born in the 2000s.

He defeated Stan Wawrinka at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships to earn his first victory in this Major. He then defeated Mikael Ymer, John Isner, and Carlos Alcaraz to advance to his third Grand Slam quarterfinal in his career. He was two sets to love up when he was defeated by the top seed and eventual champion Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinals in five sets.
