Jason Joseph Groome is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in the United States (MLB).

He was a top prospect in the 2016 MLB draft and attended Barnegat High School in Barnegat Township, New Jersey.

He was born in Barnegat Township, New Jersey, on August 23, 1998. Groome attended Barnegat High School in Barnegat Township, New Jersey, for his high school education.



As a freshman, he made the varsity baseball team at his high school. Before his junior year, he transferred to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and committed to playing college baseball at Vanderbilt University.

Groome switched his college plans from Vanderbilt to Chipola College, a Florida junior college. The Boston Red Sox selected him 12th overall in the draft.

Groome was added to the 40-man roster on November 20, 2020. He was allocated to Greenville, which is currently a High-A squad, in May 2021.

He was promoted to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs in early September.

There isn’t much information on his parents, but his father, Jay Groome, is said to have been jailed in New Jersey on multiple offences, including intent to distribute and possession of cocaine worth more than half a million dollars.

Groome was stopped while driving on Monday, and his residence was searched at the same time. Two more men were also apprehended.
