Joe Barlow is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021.



Barlow was raised in Riverton, Utah, in a large family of eleven siblings and graduated from Riverton High School.

In 2015 and 2016, he was a member of the Salt Lake Community College baseball team, where he played for two seasons.



Barlow was a catcher in his rookie year when he slugged.202 with no home runs and 13 RBIs. Barlow played both pitcher and catcher in his second season.

Hitting .208 runs scored and 14 runs batted in. Barlow had a 3.0–3.0 record with a 2.12 ERA and 51 strikeouts in 46+23 innings thrown in seven starts.

The Texas Rangers selected Barlow in the 11th round of the 2016 MLB draft, with the 339th overall pick. He agreed to join them in exchange for an initial signing bonus of $85,000.

To begin his professional career, Barlow signed with the AZL Rangers of the Rookie-level Arizona League and made his professional debut, going 2–4 with a 4.41 ERA in 32+23 innings pitched for them.

Between extended spring training and the Class A Short Season Northwest League, he was 6-1 with a 2.00 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 45 innings last season, splitting his time between the two teams.
