Jonathan Bowlan Current Team

Jonathan Bowlan plays for the Kansas City Royals as a pitcher

He has a platform to not only exhibit his skills but also to extend his reach into the community as the Kansas City Royals’ second round pick in 2018.

He had a mentor in the game since he was a child. His father, Mark Bowlan, was drafted in the 19th round by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Jonathan Bowlan followed in his father’s footsteps as a pitcher, eventually being selected in the second round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals.

Bowlan’s next stop was Memphis, which was also his father’s alma mater. Both father and son have etched their names into the Tigers’ history books.

Jonathan set a school record with 18 strikeouts against the University of Southern Florida, and Mark pitched the only perfect game in Tigers history.

Bowlan had an ERA of about seven in nine starts in his rookie season, after pitching 85 innings in college. While he recognizes that his performance was not ideal, he is determined to improve in 2019.

There is a lot to be proud of for a player whose primary concentration is on performing for his team.

To begin with, he was ranked among the top 30 prospects in the Kansas City Royals organization by MLB Pipeline at the end of the 2018 season.
