Joshua Adam Donaldson, a professional baseball third baseman for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball, was born in the United States on December 8, 1985.
Prior to joining the Minnesota Twins, he played for the Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, Oakland Athletics, and Toronto Blue Jays. He played collegiate baseball at Auburn University before being selected by the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft.
As a catcher, Donaldson made his MLB debut with the Athletics in 2010. He continued to play for the organization, switched to third base, and finally was named an All-Star in the 2014 MLB season.
Donaldson received the most fan votes of any player after being moved to the Blue Jays, winning the American League’s Most Valuable Player award for the 2015 MLB season. He was also selected as a starter for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game.
Donaldson also took home the Silver Slugger Award and topped the American League in both runs scored and RBIs. He was acquired by the Indians in an August 2018 trade, then in November that same year, he signed with the Braves as a free agent.
On January 14, 2020, Donaldson signed a four-year contract with the Minnesota Twins following a productive season with the Braves in 2019.
