American actress and activist Kathy Najimy is best known for her parts in the movies Soapdish, Sister Act, and Hocus Pocus. In The Fisher King, Soapdish, This Is My Life, and The Hard Way, among other oddball tiny roles, she made her film debut in the early 1990s.

Sister Mary Patrick was her first significant role, appearing in the 1992 comedy Sister Act. In Sister Act 2, she played this character once more in 1993. She played Mary Sanderson in Hocus Pocus. Along with her sister Sarah, Mary Sanderson is one of the two minor antagonists in the 2022 prequel to the 1993 Disney film Hocus Pocus.

In Hocus Pocus, she was the middle witch, along with her sisters Winifred and Sarah, who were also alive during the Salem Witch Trials. Mary and her sisters were awakened from their tombs after 300 years and attempted to kidnap children in order to steal their souls in order to prevent themselves from dying and aging once more.
