He has previously played for the Chicago Cubs and the San Francisco Giants in Major League Baseball (MLB). Bryant played collegiate baseball for the Toreros at the University of San Diego prior to becoming a professional.



Bryant was a standout pitcher at Bonanza High School. He was an All-American in 2012 and 2013, and in 2013 he earned the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award.


He was chosen second overall in the 2013 MLB draft by the Cubs, and he soon established himself as one of the game’s best prospects, earning the USA Today Minor League Player of the Year Award and the Baseball America Minor League Player of the Year Award in 2014.

Bryant debuted in the big leagues in 2015.

He was chosen to the National League’s (NL) All-Star team and earned the Rookie of the Year Award. In 2016, he was chosen an All-Star for the second time, won the World Series with the Cubs, and was voted the National League’s Most Valuable Player.

In 2021, the Cubs traded him to the Giants.
