Elizabeth Mary Truss, simply known as Liz Truss is a British politician and the Member of Parliament for the South West Norfolk constituency since 2010. She was born in the United Kingdom on July 26 1975 to John Kenneth Truss and Priscilla Mary Truss.

When Liz was about four years old, her family moved to Scotland where she had her primary school education at West Primary School in Paisley, Renfrewshire. She then continued at Roundhay School, a comprehensive school in north-east Leeds.

After her basic education, Liz enrolled in Merton college located at Oxford where she read Philosophy, Politics and Economics and became the President of the Oxford University Liberal Democrats. She graduated from the University in 1996 and joined the Conservative Party.



When she graduated from college, she worked as an economist and was the deputy director at the think-tank Reform before becoming a member of parliament for her constituency at the 2010 general election.

Following her election to the House of Commons on 6 May 2010, Liz campaigned massively on issues including the retention of the RAF Tornado based at RAF Marham in her constituency. When she later stood for election into Parliament, her mother campaigned for her but her father didn’t.

Liz Truss’s husband is Hugh O’Leary. He is an accountant by profession and holds a degree in economics from the London School of Economics. Hugh is from Ontario in Canada and was born to Jeremiah O’Leary and Mrs O’Leary. Liz and Hugh have two children together
