Meet David Forst

Dave Forst is Major League Baseball executive with the Oakland Athletics. He serves as the athletics department’s executive director.Encino, California, is where Forst was born and raised.Hwent to school in Brentwood, neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles.
During his time at Harvard University, Forst was member of the Crimson baseball team. 
When Forst was senior, he established school record for most hits at the shortstop position, with 67, and he was the Crimson’s starting shortstop and team captain. 
He was awarded third-team All-American shortstop by the College Sports Information Directors of America. 
With degree in sociology from Harvard in 1998.

David Forst Playing Career

In 1999, Forst took part in MLB’s spring training with the Boston Red Sox.
In 1998 and 1999, he was member of the Springfield Capitals of the independent Frontier League, where he batted.280/.350/.320 while predominantly playing third base.

David Forst Managerial Career

After submitting his resume to MLB organizations in 2000, Forst was employed as a scout by the Oakland Athletics.
In 2004, he succeeded Paul DePodesta as Athletics assistant general manager.

San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners, and other teams offered him the chance to interview for general manager.
When Billy Beane was elevated to Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations following the 2015 season, the Athletics announced that general manager Kevin Forst would be promoted to take his place.
