Michael Pierce, an American football nose tackle with the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens, was born on November 6, 1992. He attended Samford University after playing collegiate football at Tulane University, and the Ravens signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2016.
The NFL combine did not invite Pierce. He completed a broad jump inside the Top 15 for DL at his Pro Day and ran a 10-meter split faster than any other DL at the combine.
Pierce became an undrafted free agent and signed with the Baltimore Ravens on May 3, 2016. In his first year of 2016, Pierce played in all 16 games and recorded 35 tackles, two sacks, and one pass breakup.
On September 10, during the team’s 20-0 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2017 season opener, Terrell Suggs forced a fumble that was recovered by Pierce. The Ravens tendered Pierce a restricted free agent contract in the second round on March 9. The Ravens re-signed Pierce on May 1, 2019.
Pierce and the Minnesota Vikings agreed to a three-year, $27 million contract on March 25, 2020. The Vikings placed Pierce on the reserve/opt-out list after he informed them on July 28, 2020, that he would choose to forgo the 2020 campaign due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
In 2021, Pierce made a comeback as the starting defensive tackle. He started the first four contests before going down with an elbow injury in the fourth week. Before being placed on injured reserve on November 13, 2021, he missed the following four games. He becomes operational on December 4, 2021.
On March 15, 2022, Pierce was released. On March 17, 2022, Pierce agreed to a three-year, $16.5 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens.
