Some of tennis’s more well-known rivalries, such as those between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer, aren’t as well-known as others.

This Friday, at Wimbledon, Rafa Nadal and Nick Kyrgios will renew acquaintances when they face off once again.

The rivalry peaked three years ago at Wimbledon when the two faced off in the second round of play against each other.

He used an underarm serve in that match and got frustrated with Nadal for taking so long in between points.

His agent came and picked him up at 4:00 in the morning after he had been drinking at a pub all night. He then went to play in the match.

When Kyrgios beat Nadal in the Mexican Open a few months prior, the Spaniard didn’t think much of him.

Nick Kyrgios vs Rafael Nadal Head-to-Head

Nadal leads the all-time series, six games to three, and the two will meet once more on Friday.

The Australian won their first meeting at Wimbledon in 2014, which was also their first encounter. After that, their only other grass-court matchup was the famous 2019 matchup.

This will be Nadal’s tenth meeting with Kyrgios, and the Spaniard leads 6-3 in the head-to-head. The Spaniard prevailed 7-6(0), 5-7, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters this year.

Finalist Novak Djokovic or Cameron Norrie will face the winner of this match in Sunday’s Wimbledon final.

Nick Kyrgios vs Rafael Predictions

Kyrgios is the slight favorite to win the match based on his recent performances and Nadal’s injury concerns following his abdomen problem against Taylor Fritz.

Nadal, on the other hand, should not be discounted and has a good chance of competing with Kyrgios. Despite being injured, Rafael Nadal has a record of 19-0 in Grand Slam matches this year.

The Australian will have a difficult time dealing with Rafael Nadal’s game, and he will try to take advantage of service games. Against Fritz, the Spaniard produced some spectacular winners, and he intends to do the same in the semifinals.

Nadal’s return game will be put to the test as he faces one of the best servers on the tour in the upcoming tournament.

Following his maiden Grand Slam semi-final appearance, Kyrgios will be desperate to win the tournament and produce his best tennis, which isn’t very often the case for the Australian. The 27-year-old American will come out swinging with a strong serve and aggressive groundstrokes.

All that really matters is who is more composed and error-free on the court in the end. In spite of the challenge, Rafael Nadal has a good chance of defeating Nick Kyrgios and making his sixth Wimbledon final and first since 2011.
