Tennis player Nikola Mekti, a former world No. 1 in doubles, is representing Croatia. He won the mixed doubles match at the 2020 Australian Open with Barbora Krejková. At the 2021 Wimbledon Championships, they won the men’s doubles championship alongside fellow countryman Mate Pavi.

Mektic and Alexander Peya earned spots in the London 2018 ATP Finals. In the same year that Mekti and Alicja Rosolska, playing for Croatia, won the Davis Cup, he made it to his first Grand Slam final in mixed doubles at the US Open. In addition, he triumphed in three Masters 1000 competitions—at Madrid (2018), Indian Wells (2019), and Monte Carlo—with three different partners (2019).

The Year 2020 was Mektic’s most productive year thus far in his career. He and Barbora Krejková won the mixed doubles title at the 2020 Australian Open, and they also triumphed in the doubles competition at the 2020 ATP Finals. He and Wesley Koolhof also advanced to the 2020 US Open doubles championship match.

He finished the year tied for third in the doubles standings with his partner Wesley Koolhof and eighth overall in the top 10 doubles rankings. At the 2022 Queen’s Club Championships, Mektic and Pavic won their third title of the year and 20th overall. The team successfully defended its championship at the 2022 Eastbourne International.
