Oscar Mercado Siblings: Meet Juan and Nathalie

Oscar Mercado is a Colombian-American professional baseball outfielder for the Cleveland Guardians of Major League Baseball (MLB). He represented the Colombian national baseball team at the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

In the 2017 World Baseball Classic, Mercado was a member of the Colombian national baseball team and played for them.

During the 2017 season, he played for the Springfield Cardinals of the Class AA Texas League. In 120 games with the team, he had a batting line of.287/.341/.428 and stole 38 bases. He also hit 13 home runs and drove in 46 runs.



Mercado was sent to the Surprise Saguaros of the Arizona Fall League by the Cardinals after the conclusion of the regular season (AFL).

Mercado had a total of 22 appearances for the Saguaros, compiling a batting average of.264, 11 runs batted in, and six stolen bases throughout the course of his career.

After the American Football League season was completed, the Cardinals added him to their 40-man roster in order to prevent him from being selected in the Rule 5 Draft.

Mercado started off the year 2018 playing for the Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific Coast League’s Class AAA.

The Cardinals made the deal with the Cleveland Indians on July 31, 2018, to send Mercado to Cleveland in exchange for Conner Capel and Jhon Torres.

He spent the season playing for the Columbus Clippers of the Class AAA International League after being given that team as his assignment.

Between Memphis and Columbus, he played in 132 games, during which he had a batting line of.278/.349/.390 with eight home runs, 47 RBIs, and 37 stolen bases. His 2019 campaign got underway with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

On May 14, the Indians made the decision to promote Mercado to the major leagues.
