Peng Liyuan, a Chinese soprano, and modern folk singer was born on November 20, 1962. She is also the spouse of Xi Jinping, the People’s Republic of China’s president and current general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party.

Peng became well-known as a singer as a result of her frequent appearances on the popular Chinese television program CCTV New Year’s Gala, which is broadcast throughout the Chinese New Year.

She received accolades in singing contests across the country. Her most well-known singles are “People from Our Village,” “Zhumulangma,” and (“In the Field of Hope”). Peng has performed the theme songs for a number of well-known TV shows, including The Water Margin (1998). She has performed in musicals as a lead.



She won China’s top theatrical honor, the Plum Blossom Award, in 1986 for her leading part in The White Haired Girl. Between 2012 and 2017, she served as president of the People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art, and from 2005 to 2010, she served as vice president of the All-China Youth Federation.

Before being chosen as the dean of the Art Academy, Peng held the civilian rank equivalent to a major general in the People’s Liberation Army. She then received the formal status.

She is well-known in China for her sense of style, which is attributed to her personal designer Ma Ke. Forbes ranked Peng as the 57th Most Powerful Woman in the World in 2014.
