Minister of State for Trade Policy Penelope Mary Mordaunt FRSA  From 2010 to 2019, she served as a member of Theresa May’s Cabinet as a minister for Portsmouth North.

When Mordaunt became Secretary of State for Defense, she was the first woman to occupy that position. She is a candidate for the position of Conservative Party leader.

Mordaunt was born on March 4th, 1973 in Torquay, Devon. Her mother was a teacher, and her father had served in the military as a paratrooper.

Between the years 2003 and 2005, Mordaunt was employed by the Big Lottery Fund. She was appointed to her position as one of Diabetes UK’s six directors in 2006.
