Phil Maton Siblings: Meet Nick and Jacob

Phil Maton is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Houston Astros of Major League Baseball (MLB). He played college baseball at Louisiana Tech University.

During his time at Louisiana Tech University, Maton was a member of the Bulldogs’ baseball team, playing for Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois.

During the 2015 MLB draft, the San Diego Padres selected Maton in the 20th round, making him the 20th overall pick. It was with the Short Season-A Tri-City Dust Devils that year that he made his professional baseball debut.



Maton threw to a 4–2 win-loss record, a 1.38 ERA, and 58 strikeouts in 3223 IP worked in 23 bullpen appearances. Class A Fort Wayne TinCaps, Class A Lake Elsinore Storm, and the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas were among Maton’s stops in 2016.

He made 38 appearances for the three teams and had a 5–3 record, 1.74 ERA, and 78 strikeouts in 5123 innings pitched for each of them. Afterward, he played with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League. El Paso’s Triple-A team was the first stop for Maton in 2017.

Phil Maton Siblings: Meet Nick and Jacob

Professional baseball pitcher Phil Maton was born alongside two siblings. Phil Maton’s two brothers are called Nick Maton and Jacob Maton.

Nick is a shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies and Jacob is a pitcher who was drafted by the Mariners in 2018 but opted to play college baseball at Coastal Carolina.

Nick being chosen to the Ohio Valley Conference All-Freshman team after starting at shortstop as a true freshman and batting.299 with 12 doubles and four triples, as well as three home runs and 28 runs scored, and 24 runs driven in, was an honor.

Immediately following the season, Maton played in the Coastal Plain League with the Fayetteville SwampDogs, where he batted.175 with two doubles and fifteen RBIs. After his first year, he went to Lincoln Land Community College.
