Randal Grichuk is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has also played in MLB for the St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays.
After the 2013 season, MLB.com rated Grichuk as the Angels’ No. 4 prospect, and on November 20, 2013, the team added him to their 40-man roster.
Two days later, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals along with Peter Bourjos for David Freese and Fernando Salas, who were both acquired in the transaction.
Grichuk was a member of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League’s Memphis Redbirds in 2014. His debut in the majors came on April 28, 2014, when he was promoted by the Cardinals following an excellent season in the minor leagues, with a slash line of.310/.359/529.
When he made his MLB debut, he was playing defensive replacement outfield. The following day, Grichuk started in center field for the first time in the majors and collected his first major league hit with a single in five at-bats.
Shortly after that, the Cardinals sent him back to Memphis on an emergency basis. After hitting a game-winning home run against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on May 21, he signed an autograph for an unnamed fan in front of the authorities.
