Regina Hall was born in Washington, D.C. on December 12, 1970, to Ruby, a teacher, and Odie Hall, a contractor.

She graduated from Fordham University in 1992 and went on to acquire a master’s degree in journalism from New York University before embarking on a career as an actress.

She began starring in advertisements in 1997, at the age of 26 and then made the big jump into cinema. Regina Hall sprang to prominence with her appearance in the comedy-horror parody Scary Movie, but she has since been on the big screen in roles that belied her age.

Her recurrent role as high-school-aged Brenda Meeks in Scary Movie and its sequel Scary Movie 2 demonstrated the 30-year-ability old’s to retain a young appearance. Her first cinematic role, however, was in the 1999 picture The Best Man.

The next year, she appeared in a number of additional films, including a leading part in Scary Movie in 2000. Her debut part was in the film Love and Basketball, in which she co-starred with close friend Sanaa Lathan.

Hall’s resume expanded in 2001 with her first television job, as Corretta Lipp on the prime-time drama Ally McBeal, which was a recurring character for numerous episodes.
