Ross Stripling Current Team: Is Ross Stripling Still With the Toronto Blue Jays?
Is Ross Stripling Still With the Toronto Blue Jays?
Yes, Stripling is still with the Blue Jays.
Ross Stripling has not only salvaged his career but has also turned it around to become a reliable starter for the Blue Jays in just over two months.
The Blue Jays traded 20-year-old pitching prospect, Kendall Williams to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the MLB Trade Deadline in 2020 for the struggling Stripling.
Williams was picked in the second round just one year previously. Stripling was having his worst season of his career, and once he joined the Blue Jays, things didn’t get any better.
For the rest of the seasons, he had a 6.32 ERA and 1.60 WHP in two starts and five total appearances, giving little fans reason to be optimistic heading into 2021.
In contrast to last year, Stripling’s start to the 2021 season was significantly worse.
On May 19, he hit rock bottom in his sixth start of the season, going just 3.2 innings while allowing six runs, three of which were earned, including three home runs, to score.
In all but two of his starts this season, he had failed to pitch more than five innings. Most fans were advocating his release and eventual replacement with Tanner Roark.
Stripling has made 13 starts since that start on May 24 and has a 5-3 record with a 3.39 ERA in 66.1 innings thrown.
Stripling pitched six shutout innings for the club on Thursday night, striking out six batters. In 10 of the 13 games, he has pitched at least five innings while allowing two or fewer runs.
