Victor Caratini is a Puerto Rican professional baseball catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres. After catching Joe Musgrove’s no-hitter, he was given the nickname “The Scientist”.
Caratini, who had played his college ball at Miami Dade College, was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2013.
During that season, he made his debut in the professional ranks with the Danville Braves. Caratini spent the majority of his time at catcher in 2014, a switch from his primary position at third base in his rookie year. He first played for the Rome Braves when the season began.
Caratini was dealt to the Chicago Cubs on July 31 by the Atlanta Braves in exchange for Emilio Bonifacio and James Russell. After the Cubs were finished with him for the season, they traded him to the Kane County Cougars.
Caratini was a member of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans lineup during the 2015 season. He batted for that team.
