Wanda Sykes is one of the very popular actresses in America. She is also a stand-up comedian and a writer. Wanda was born in Virginia on March 7, 1964. She had her high school education at Arundel High School situated in Gambrills, Mary land.

She further went on to attend Hampton University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing.  When she finished college she got a job at the National Security Agency(NSA) as a contracting specialist. She worked with them for five years and then quit.

After quitting her job at the NSA, Wanda decided to go into stand-up comedy since she saw that as her talent. She started her stand-up comedy shows in 1987 and she performed in several places till she moved to New York in 1992.



Wanda also appeared on several TV shows, including the Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam. During that show, she was privileged to share the stage with well-known comedians at that time such as  Bernie Mac and Bill Bellamy. In 2004, she was on the list of the 25 funniest people in America in the Entertainment Weekly.

Wanda and her partner, Alex Niedbalski, are parents to fraternal twins Olivia Lou Sykes and Lucas Claude Sykes. The twins were born in April 2009.
