Alvin Mentian Kamara (born July 25, 1995) is an American football running back who plays for the National Football League’s New Orleans Saints. After transferring from the University of Alabama, he played collegiate football at the University of Tennessee and was picked by the Saints in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Kamara’s stint at Alabama was “difficult”.
He had preseason knee surgery and redshirted as a true freshman after failing to break into a recruiting class that included Derrick Henry, T. J. Yeldon, and Kenyan Drake. Saban barred Kamara from team practices and from their bowl game due to “behavioral concerns.”

Hutchinson Community College

Kamara redshirted his freshman year at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas in 2014. 
Kamara rushed for 1,211 yards (134.6 per game) and 18 touchdowns in nine games, leading the Blue Dragons in total offense (1,469 yards).

University of Tennessee

In 2015, Kamara transferred to UT to play for Butch Jones.

Kamara started all 13 games as a redshirt sophomore alongside Jalen Hurd and John Kelly.

On September 5, 2015, he rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns in his Tennessee debut against Bowling Green at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.
