Charles “Charlie” Brown (often referred to as his full name by Marcie and dubbed Chuck by Peppermint Patty) is the main character in Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts comic strip. The cartoon character has been praised as one of the greatest cartoon characters of all time, and he has evolved into one of America’s great archetypes.



Charlie first appeared on May 30, 1948, and was created by Charles M.Shulz. In terms of personality, Charlie Brown is gentle, insecure, and lovable and was made to take after Shulz. Although he is smart, he over-thinks things and this often gives him a tendency to procrastinate. He is the leader of the baseball team and keeps hoping for a victory despite their numerous failures.

Charlie is often bullied by his friends who always belittle him in everything he does. He on the other hand wants to do right to his friends but is mostly bullied by Joe Agate. Charlie is frequently embarrassed, which prompts him to utter his two favorite words, “Good Grief!”.



As a result, It can be seen that Charlie Brown suffered from Avoidant Personality Disorder (APD). People with APD normally would want to associate themselves with people but are afraid to be rejected if they make the effort.
