What Health Issue did Naomi Judd Have?

Naomi has been candid about her mental illness difficulties in recent years. Her struggle with depression had been a longtime one, she confessed in her 2016 memoir River of Time:

My Descent Into Depression and How I Emerged With Hope, but things took a dark turn during the 2012 Last Encore Tour. During that moment, memories of being sexually molested as a youngster came flooding back.

In 2017, Judd admitted to NBC, “I never dealt with all the crap that happened to me, so it came out sideways, like depression and anxiety.” “Depression is partly genetic, and it runs in my family on both sides.”

Judd was paralyzed for two years by sadness and worry. Her muscles have substantially atrophied due to a lack of movement.

She was eventually diagnosed with severe depression, which proved resistant to treatment.

“It just seemed like, if I live through this, I want someone to be able to witness that they can survive,” Judd said later about her depression treatment.

Judd was extremely candid about what she went through after returning home from the Encore Tour in an effort to eradicate the stigma associated with mental illness.

During that time, she began to have suicidal thoughts and reasoned in her head that her family would understand if she committed suicide.

“It’s beyond comprehension, but I reasoned, ‘Surely my family will know that I was in such misery, and I believed they would want me to end that pain,'” says the author.
