American professional baseball outfielder Samuel Beauman Hilliard, who plays for the Colorado Rockies in Major League Baseball, was born on February 21, 1994.

Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Texas was where Hilliard studied. Before moving to Crowder College, he began his collegiate baseball career at Navarro College.

In the 31st round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft, the Minnesota Twins selected him out of Crowder, but he chose to enroll at Wichita State University instead of signing a contract.



In college, Hilliard was a pitcher and an outfielder. He was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 15th round of the 2015 MLB draft after one season at Wichita State and signed.

Hilliard made his debut as a professional baseball player with the Grand Junction Rockies. He then played for the Asheville Tourists in 2016, the Lancaster JetHawks in 2017, and the Hartford Yard Goats in 2018.

He took part in the Arizona Fall League after the 2018 campaign. He was added to the Rockies’ 40-man roster following the 2018 campaign. Albuquerque Isotopes were his first band of 2019.

Hilliard was promoted to the major leagues by the Rockies on August 27, 2019. In his first game that evening against the Boston Red Sox, he blasted his first major league home run off Josh Smith.

Prior to being optioned down to the Rockies’ secondary site after the team acquired Kevin Pillar in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, Hilliard batted.210/.272/.438 with an ugly strikeout rate of 36.8%.
