What Nationality is the Name Raab?

The ancient Strathclyde inhabitants of the Scottish/English Borderlands are where the Raab surname got its start, according to history. The name Raab comes from the personal name Robert, which combines the words hrod, or renowned, and berht, or light.

Although the surname Raab was first discovered in Stirlingshire, one of the most intriguing entries is that of Beatriux and Issobell Robie (Robye), who were labeled as witches in 1597, which was not unexpected given the period’s religious strife.
