The 2016 Major League Baseball draft had Jones as one of the best prospects. During the draft’s second round, the Cleveland Indians picked Jones. Jones agreed to a $2.25 million signing bonus on July 1 and joined the Indians.

On his debut at-bat for the Arizona League Indians, Jones was struck out swinging. His batting average over 109 at-bats in his maiden professional season was.257.



While playing baseball in 2017, Jones was a member of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers.

4 home runs, 33 RBIs, and 18 doubles in 62 games for a batting average of 317.

He played 120 games for both organizations in 2018 while batting a combined.283/.405/.466 with 19 home runs and 66 RBIs. He started the season with the Lake County Captains before being promoted to the Lynchburg Hillcats.


Prior to being promoted to the Akron RubberDucks during the season, Jones went back to Lynchburg to start 2019. The 2019 All-Star Futures Game named him to the roster.

Afterward, he was chosen to represent the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League. But after exacerbating a preexisting hand injury, he quit the league early.

Because the season was postponed in 2020, he did not participate in a minor league game. On November 20, 2020, Cleveland decided to sign Jones.

Jones played with the Columbus Clippers during the 2021 campaign, where he made cuts. over 99 games, he batted 238.356.431. He also had 48 RBIs, 25 doubles, and 13 home runs.
